The 80's

In the beginning..

From studying photography at Tech and being employed at my first job as a junior press photographer for Die Volksblad in Bloemfontein.

The 90's

The 90s were crazy and exciting—South Africa went from a police state to a rainbow nation. Being in the media at that time, documenting history in the making, was exhilarating.

Early 2000

Chief photographer at the cape times

My last years as a news photographer—although I would do ad hoc news work for Reuters and AFP—I delved into documentary and social issues as a freelancer after leaving the newspapers.

Documentaries

I love shooting documentaries because they allow me to dive deep into real stories, capturing raw emotions, untold struggles, and moments of resilience.  I always try to give a voice to those who might otherwise go unheard, shedding light on important social, environmental, and humanitarian issues.
